Fulham sign 22-year-old Spain forward Garcia from Real Madrid for £34m

Fulham have secured the signatures of Gonzalo Garcia and Cesar Palacios from Real Madrid, with both players agreeing five-year contracts.

Garcia, who is 22 years old, featured 39 times for the Spanish club last season across all competitions, finding the net eight times.

The striker, who earned his inaugural senior international cap for Spain in June, will be reunited with new Fulham head coach Alvaro Arbeloa, having previously worked alongside him at the Bernabeu. The transfer is understood to be in the region of £34m.

Garcia expressed his gratitude and delight at completing the move, stating that he wanted to extend his thanks to the board and Arbeloa for the faith they have shown in him, and that he is eager to begin.

The highly regarded forward, who shared the Golden Boot at the Club World Cup last summer, will be joined at Craven Cottage by former Madrid teammate Palacios.

The 21-year-old midfielder has also committed his future to the club until the summer of 2031, though Fulham retain the option to extend both players’ deals by an additional year.

Palacios made five senior appearances for Real, coming on as a substitute on each occasion, and has represented Spain at under-20 level.
