Fulham advance talks to sign 21-year-old Real Madrid midfielder Cesar Palacios

Fulham are progressing negotiations to acquire Real Madrid central midfielder Cesar Palacios, with Alvaro Arbeloa also spearheading interest in forward Gonzalo Garcia.

The 21-year-old Palacios represents a primary objective for Arbeloa, who previously mentored him during his time coaching at the youth level before stepping in as temporary manager of the Spanish capital club last campaign.

This potential acquisition could form part of a series of deals involving players from the Bernabeu outfit, with Garcia among the attacking options being assessed to fill the void left by Raul Jimenez’s departure back to Wolves during the close season.

Nevertheless, Fulham harbour reservations regarding a move for Garcia, given Jose Mourinho’s insistence on retaining him within his squad.

This situation simultaneously opens up the prospect of Real Madrid demanding a substantial fee for the forward, with Fulham weighing up multiple alternatives in what represents one of their key areas of concern heading into the upcoming campaign.

Fulham are yet to finalise any other signings, having only converted Jonah Kusi-Asare’s temporary switch from Bayern Munich last term into a permanent arrangement. The club has also seen winger Harry Wilson depart for Leeds following the expiration of his contract.
